The course, "Social Media Research," will provide participants with an advanced understanding of the methods required to collect and analyze data from web and social media sources using R. You will learn how to scrape websites, how to interact with APIs to download data from Twitter and Facebook, and how to store and query large-scale datasets using SQL. The course will also cover exploratory techniques to discover themes and issues in textual datasets, including topic models.
Barberá is an Assistant Professor of Computational Social Science at the London
School of Economics. Previously he was an Assistant Professor at the University
of Southern California and a Moore-Sloan Fellow at the NYU Center for Data
Science. His research applies computational methods to the study of political
and social behavior.
